RESOURCES | FAQ Pg. 1

Q: Do I Need an Attorney?
A: You are likely doing yourself a disservice by not hiring an attorney. California criminal laws are complicated, confusing and could get you into more trouble in the future if you don’t understand what you are agreeing to. You may not fully understand all the consequences that result from you pleading guilty.

Q: What Other Consequences Are There Other Than a Fine and Jail Time?
A: Other consequences could involve losing a license you hold, (real estate, attorney, accounting, medical) immigration problems, probation violations, as well as a getting a stiffer fine and jail sentence.

Q: What Can You Do That I Can't Do For Myself?
A: We thoughtfully evaluate your case and see if the prosecutor even has a provable case against you. Our attorneys act as your gatekeeper and will review the case against you to weed out any charges that are frivolous or simply not provable by the DA. No one else will do this for you, not the judge and certainly not the prosecutor; we are the only team that will be on your side looking out for you, advocating for you, fighting for your rights.

Q: Can't I Just Get a Public Defender?
A: Public defenders are available to those who qualify. In order to qualify your must meet you have to make a certain income. If you make more than the limit you will either have to represent yourself (not a good idea) or hire an attorney.

Q: But I Just Want to Plead And Get it Over With.
A: There are occasions when pleading is best. Keep in mind, however, that you will likely get a better offer to settle your case if you are represented. Why? Because courts and DAs have a ton of cases. They want to try to get rid of as many cases possible.
